This training bundle is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to maintain high standards of food safety in your workplace, and preventing foodborne illnesses in hospitality sector food businesses.
This training bundle includes the two key Nationally Accredited Units:
- SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety and
- SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion, participants will have achieved the required Units of Competency to qualify as a Food Safety Supervisor in all Australian states, except NSW (covering ACT, NT, QLD, SA, TAS, VIC, and WA).
Participants will receive a Statement of Attainment containing both SITXFSA005 and SITXFSA006.

This course is ideal for anyone, except those in NSW, who are working or aspiring to work as a Food Safety Supervisor in the hospitality sector, including businesses like restaurants, cafes, bars, hotels, and catering operations. It is also beneficial for employees looking to improve their food handling knowledge and ensure compliance with national food safety standards.
What You Will Learn:
- SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety
Learn essential food safety practices to prevent food contamination and ensure food is stored, prepared, and served safely. This unit covers personal hygiene, cleaning, sanitising, and the correct handling of food products in a hospitality environment.
- SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices
Focuses on the practical application of food safety procedures within a workplace setting, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations. This includes the monitoring and control of food hazards, as well as implementing corrective actions and food safety plans to maintain high standards.
Assessment
- Online assessment with a mix of question types.
- Complete a Third-Party Observation Report.
The third-party report is a form filled out by your supervisor or employer to confirm your ability to apply the skills you’ve learned in a real workplace setting.
Duration
- On average this unit takes 6-8 hours to complete.
- While it is possible to complete the course in a day, we allow you up to 6 months (183 days) to complete the units.
Expiry / Renewal
- Most states require or recommend renewing this training every 5 years.
To renew, simply retake the course.
