In the care setting, large numbers of children are often in close contact for long periods of time throughout the day. Children also share toys, mats, drink bubblers and other resources. For these reasons, there are increased opportunities for hygiene to be compromised and germs to be spread.
Therefore, it is important that food safety training takes into account children’s underdeveloped hygiene practices and the nature of how food is prepared and served in the care environment.
These factors have been addressed in this course along with the relevance of the correct development and implementation of food safety and environmental checklists.
To cater to the different training requirements of Food Safety Supervisors in the Health and Community Services sector across these states, we’ve ‘clustered’ three nationally accredited units that will appear on your Statement of Attainment on completion:
- HLTFSE001 – Follow basic food safety practices
- HLTFSE005 – Apply and monitor food safety requirements
- HLTFSE007 – Oversee the day-to-day implementation of food safety in the workplace
This consolidation offers a smoother study experience by reducing repetition compared to completing each unit separately.
This ‘cluster’ also meets the training requirements for Food Safety Supervisors in the Health and Community Services sectors in:
- Victoria (VIC)
- Queensland (QLD)
- South Australia (SA)
- Western Australia (WA)
- Tasmania (TAS)
- Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
- Northern Territory (NT)
These 3 units will give you the required qualifications to be a Food Safety Supervisor in these States. For other state options see our Food Safety Supervisor course page.
